Bastille Day 5k & 8k Run/Walk

Calling all Francophones! All things French will be celebrated at this popular mid-summer event in the heart of Lincoln Park. The annual run/walk commemorates the French Revolution which began with the storming of the Bastille, the Paris medieval fortress and prison, in 1789.

Celebrating its 35th year in 2016, registrants are strongly encouraged to get creative with French-themed apparel, and that country's blue, white and red flag color scheme. (And, as a super bonus in 2016, this year's Chicago run/walk date actually COINCIDES WITH THE OFFICIAL DAY that Bastille Day is celebrated globally each year: July 14th!)

Benificiary-Mercy Home for Boys and Girls The purpose of this event is to raise funds for Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. This residential child-care facility offers abused, abandoned and neglected children hope and constructive means towards forming a healthy life and future. Nine residential homes provide Mercy's children with a healthy, nurturing environment. Mercy Home's children receive love, shelter, clothing, education, medical care, moral values and the life skills necessary to live independently. Mercy Home is funded by private donations.
